Abuse Charges Filed Against Woman For Allegedly Beating Disabled Woman
DETROIT (WWJ) - A 49-year-old woman arraigned Sunday on abuse and assault charges for allegedly beating a disabled woman she was caring for in a Detroit group home.
A co-worker of Kadia Konate-Dennard recorded her using a broom handle and extension cord to hit Vera Gossett, who has autism. It happened at Stathmoor Manor.
Attorney Richard Bernstein says not only is the group home responsible -- but the state as well.
"So here you have a facility that has already been cited for improper restraint, "abuse" given the same category, and what was the state's follow-up? What was the action plan? What was the enforcement plan?" asked Bernstein.
Konate-Dennard's bond was set at $200,000 dollars.
