A Tribute to Moms
Stephanie Watson couldn't wait to tell the world what she thought of her mom Mable.
Madhu Bhasin's daughter had a few choice words for her mom too.
WWJ Newsradio 950 highlighted all these special memories at their Celebrating Michigan Moms luncheon this week.
The price of admission was a short essay on what makes your mom a power mom.
Here's an excerpt from what I said about my mother:
I call my mom "Babys" because she's so sweet, but don't be fooled by the nickname.
Babys is one of the strongest women I know. Short in stature, compared to my 6 foot one frame, her sense of fairness, honesty and faith towers over all.
A natural caretaker. She returned to the nursing home her beloved mom died in to be company to the forgotten others staying there, providing friendship, until they too, passed on.
I saw her strength at the hospital when my dad was dying of cancer. She held his hand and told him she would be ok if he let go. At his funeral, she was a comfort to others.
Always supportive, she rejoiced when I got a job here, welcoming me into her home (and closets!).
She's the keeper of our family history. Through her, we all thrive and become better people.
My goal is to make her happy and proud of this life she created. I live by her mantra: "I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me."
Thank you Babys for the beauty of your love and support!
