A Run To The Border Turns Into Jail Time For 2 Alleged Burglars
DETROIT (WWJ) - Two men trying to make their way into Canada get a major detour and land in jail Thursday.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers working at the Detroit Canada Tunnel nabbed two 18-year-old men allegedly involved with a string of burglaries in Saginaw.
The men, both U.S. citizens were refused entry into Canada. Upon their return to the U.S, they were questions and a background check that showed multiple charges for one of the men, including dangerous drugs, controlled substance, burglary, larceny and a home invasion conviction.
Border patrol found lock boxes, jewelry, electronics and personal documents not belonging to either individual during an inspection of their car.
The owners of the documents and Saginaw police were contacted and confirmed that those items were linked to recent burglaries in the area.
Both men were arrested and the investigation continues.
