A New Choice In Senior Living **Advertisement**

There's a new option for active adults who want to live in a vibrant community in Southeast Michigan, but want a new home without any of the hassle of maintenance.

Michigan's newest active-living community, located just off I-94 outside Ann Arbor, will highlight the 2010 Builders' Showcase of Homes in early October. Featuring 60 elegant craftsman-style cottages, The Cedars of Dexter sits adjacent to historic Gordon Hall and more than 50 historically preserved acres.

The Builders' Showcase will unveil The Cedars' new clubhouse and the development's 1,500 s.f. model home from Thursday, October 7 to Sunday, October 10. With tours starting at 1 p.m. each day and ending at 7 p.m., tour goers have plenty of opportunity to catch a glimpse of the future of active adult living in Michigan.

"A limited number of cottage homes remain. Being a part of the Builders' Showcase puts our cottages at the forefront of new construction and development in the region," said John Thorhauer, president and CEO of United Methodist Retirement Communities (UMRC), a faith-based, non-profit with a more than 100 year history in Michigan, which is developing The Cedars of Dexter. "As people stroll through our model homes, they'll see we are offering the best living options for adults 60 or better who want to keep a home and an active lifestyle in Michigan."

The cottages feature spacious open floor plans with high ceilings, covered porches and patios and four-season rooms. The Cedars of Dexter also offers maintained landscaped yards, wooded views, a versatile clubhouse with fine and casual dining, life learning studio and paved walking paths. Standard upgrades include granite countertops, ceramic tile floors and Anderson windows.

To make sure residents stay as active as they would like, The Cedars includes a full-service fitness center with a pool, hot tub, sauna and cardiovascular equipment.

"The charter residents at The Cedars of Dexter selected this community to be able, maintain full time careers, enjoy a social life and take advantage of what The Cedars has to offer," said Thorhauer. "It's a well-deserved break from the everyday rigors of traditional homeownership while keeping the community feel of a traditional neighborhood."

Of the 60 planned cottages planned for The Cedars, 38 have already been pre-reserved by charter members. For more information on the weekend tours contact Cathy Gallagher at 734.433.1210 or visit www.umrc.com.
