A Deportation Love Story, Playing Today
They call it a deportation love story -- "Tony and Janina's American Wedding" is a documentary about a family torn apart when a mother is deported, and their three-year struggle to be reunited.
The Alliance for Immigrants Rights & Reform, along with Ruthless Films, is sponsoring the Michigan tour which wraps up this weekend in Metro Detroit. WWJ Newsradio 950 spoke with Ruth Leithman, who directed the film.
"What we are hoping that will happen is that President Obama will get on board with exercising his presidential power to help stop the deportations and breaking up families like this one," Leithman said.
"Tony and Janina's American Wedding" plays Saturday, May 21, at three Metro Detroit locations.
