A Basketball Game On An Aircraft Carrier?
(San Diego-WWJ) It's official. Michigan State and North Carolina will play a basketball game on an aircraft carrier docked in San Diego Harbor this fall.
The inaugural Carrier Classic will be held on November 11--Veteran's Day. It will be the first-ever NCAA basketball game to be played aboard an aircraft carrier.
The San Diego Sports Commission and Morale Entertainment Foundation say they have received written committments from MSU and North Carolina. Formal approval from the U.S. Navy is expected soon.
It hasn't been announced which aircraft carrier will host the game.
Michigan State and North Carolina have played three times in the last three seasons, with the Tar Heels winning them all, including the 2009 national championship game at Detroit's Ford Field.
