Fast Trac Classes To Start In Metro Detroit: Two programs, presented separately to help the existing business owner and the new entrepreneur will start soon in Metro Detroit, presented by the Michigan Small Business & Technology Development Center. GrowthVenture, focusing on operating companies, will start in Oakland County March 4 while NewVenture, for new business owners, will begin in Detroit April 12. GrowthVenture (Venture Forward) is an intensive, 10-week program designed for owners, CEOs and top management team members of businesses with at least two years of operating experience. GrowthVenture applicants can apply online. Focused on issues most important to business health and growth, attendees gain knowledge to make critical decisions about their business and strategy, investigate next-stage growth and opportunity, plan for strategic growth, build and maintain a competitive advantage and maximize cash flow for profitability. NewVenture is aimed at aspiring and early stage entrepreneurs through the 10-week business development class featuring the nationally acclaimed FastTrac NewVenture curriculum. NewVenture applicants can apply online. This program helps entrepreneurs evaluate business opportunities and develop an action plan for owning their own business. Written by entrepreneurs for aspiring entrepreneurs, NewVenture offers essential business information to help develop entrepreneurial skills and build a business on a strong foundation. Both programs are available with scholarship support thanks to the support of Michigan State University's Broadband Technology Opportunity Program grant award; the registration fee for the class has been reduced from $700 to $140 for those admitted. Electric car technician training conference coming to Macomb CC: NextEnergy, Wayne State University and Macomb Community College will sponsor a conference, "Electrifying the Economy, Educating the Workforce: Taking Charge of the Electric Vehicle Industry's Educational Needs," April 19 and 20 at the John Lewis Center, Macomb Community College, 4500 E. 12 Mile Road, Warren. The event is an opportunity for educators and industry representatives to connect about the future of automotive training and education. Wayne State University, Macomb Community College and NextEnergy, recipients of a Department of Energy grant to mount electric drive vehicle programs at the master's, bachelor's and associate's level, have partnered with industry associates (such as General Motors, Ford, DTE Energy and various automotive suppliers) to understand the skills they envision needing in the emerging field of electric drive automobiles.
