800 Marijuana Plants Seized In Detroit Drug Bust
DETROIT (WWJ) - About 800 marijuana plants were seized Thursday from a warehouse on Detroit's east side.
Detroit Police Sgt. Eren Stephens said the plants were removed after police received a tip on where they could find a massive amount of narcotics. Following up on the lead, the department's narcotic unit raided the large warehouse around 2 p.m.
Police found a marijuana-growing operation inside the building and a 37-year-old man was taken into custody. Officers boxed up the plants and brought them back to the station, where it was determined they had a street value of nearly $2 million.
Stephens said the raid and seizure are part of an ongoing investigation.
