7-Year-Old's Cause Of Death Ruled Suicide
DETROIT (AP/WWJ) - The medical examiner's office has found suicide was the cause of death for a 7-year-old Detroit boy found hanging in his bedroom.
The Detroit News and the Detroit Free Press reported Monday on the Wayne County medical examiner's findings. Detroit police have said the boy was found hanging from a bunk bed on May 23.
According to a police, the boy's 14-year-old sister found him, apparently unconscious, at around 5:30 p.m. and went to get help. An adult family member attempted to revive the boy.
Police received a call of a suicide in the 700 block of Pingree Street and rushed to the home, administering CPR until an EMS unit arrived.
The boy was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
A neighbor who knew the boy described him to WWJ 950 as cheerful, happy and smart. But the parents told police the boy had been bullied, although those circumstances are not yet clear.
