7 More Indicted In Massive Heroin Bust
PONTIAC (WWJ) - Seven more people have been charged in connection with a $150 million drug bust in Pontiac.
The case began in August of 2011, when agents in Oakland County seized the largest quantity of heroin ever discovered in the State of Michigan.
When DEA agents executed a search warrant at a residence on Pike Street in Pontiac, they seized over $566,000, along with the multi-kilo quantities of heroin and cocaine.
According to officials, several people hauled heroin and cocaine from the Arizona-Mexico border to Michigan. Once in the state, the drugs would be distributed across Metro Detroit.
Those newly indicted were Reyes Tapia Nunez, 39; Rachel Bias-Torres, 42; Miguel-Valle-Nunez, 37; Fidel Cortes Mendez, 42; Dwight Jerice Brewer, 38; Jorge Mariscal-Mota, 39; and Branda Lee Flores, 42.
"The sheer quantity of drugs we confiscated last week in our own backyard is startling," said Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard, in a statement released following the bust last summer.
