"50 Shades" To Bring Baby Boom?
WEST BLOOMFIELD (WWJ) - The popularity of the erotic best-selling series "50 Shades of Grey" is sparking talk of a baby boom starting in February, nine months after the highest sales of the first book.
West Bloomfield gynecologist Dr. Mark Werner told WWJ Newsradio 950's Sandra McNeil the book has been a topic of conversation at his office.
"I've had four, four patients bring it up to me ... I was a little bit surprised," said Werner.
What are women saying?
"'Gosh, I read this book and it really kinda stimulated me to reconnect with my husband, to have a better relationship with him,' and try to mimic what they read," Werner said.
Werner said a member of his staff told him the book helped her relationship tremendously. As for the possibility of a baby boom locally, he said he wouldn't be surprised, but only time will tell.
"The birth rate has dropped quite a bit because of the economy ... it's at some point gotta go up," he said.
