St. Heights Home To Newest Location Of Wyle Aerospace Group
STERLING HEIGHTS (WWJ) - A new facility opens in St. Heights to create safer operating tanks for troops in war zones.
The Wyle Aerospace Group opened its 24th location Monday and will work with TACOM (Tank Automotive Command) to make improvements to combat vehicles which will make them mine resistant.
The vehicle is called M-RAP (Mine Resistant Ambush Proof Vehicle) and Macomb County will be the new home for the 'Sustainment Engineering Facility.'
Peter Green, president of Wyle's Aerospace Division says the new facility will enhance the company's day-to-day customer communications and provide engineering support for customers at the U.S. Army TACOM Life Cycle Management Command and the US Army Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center (TARDEC).
Wyle is headquartered in El Segundo, California, it employs approximately 4,600 people at more than 50 facilities nationwide.
