Rep. Hansen Clarke's Greektown Offices Ransacked
DETROIT (WWJ) - Police are investigating a break in at Congressman Hansen Clarke's offices in Detroit.
Clarke (D-Mich.) said thieves apparently got in Wednesday night by jimmying a lock-- and took thousands of dollars worth of stuff-- including laptops, a blackberry, camcorders and a camera.
"I was born and raised in Detroit and I've been broken into in my personal residence when I was growing up," said Clarke. "My concern was for the people who worked in this office. I mean, they were pretty shaken up when they walked in to see that their offices had been gone through and ransacked."
Clarke's offices share a Greektown building with other businesses and Fishbones restaurant, but his offices were the only one targeted.
Clarke, a Democrat, said he believes the crime may have been politically motivated as a wallet and checkbook in a ransacked room were left untouched.
Detroit police released images from a surveillance video that show the suspects.
