4 Charged In Multistate Prostitution Ring
LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Four Lexington residents have been charged in an alleged conspiracy to recruit women from eight states to work as prostitutes in central Kentucky.
The charges were contained in a federal indictment Friday.
The U.S. attorney's office in Lexington says 38-year-old Marco Antonio Flores-Benitez, 36-year-old Roxana Serna-Olea, 26-year-old Adrian Lezama-Ruiz and 35-year-old Roberto Salinas-Rivera allegedly recruited Spanish-speaking women from North Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Maryland to become prostitutes.
All the defendants are charged with conspiracy and inducing someone to travel across states lines to engage in prostitution. Flores-Benitez is also charged with sex trafficking, conspiracy to commit sex trafficking and transporting someone across state lines to engage in prostitution. The four also face immigration charges.
No court date has been set.
