3rd Suspect In Double Fatal Detroit Firebombing Arrested In West Virginia
DETROIT (WWJ) - A woman accused in a deadly Detroit firebombing late last year has been arrested without incident in West Virginia.
Local news outlets report that 21-year-old Daquana Malika Williams was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon in Morgantown by the U.S. Marshals Mountain State Fugitive Task Force. Williams has been wanted for the past three months by the Detroit Police Department on two counts of murder, assault with intent to murder and first-degree arson.
Police said Williams and two others killed two people — 33-year-old James Jordan and his girlfriend, 20-year-old Jana John — on Dec. 14 by using accelerants to firebomb a home on Hoyt and Manning, near State Fair and Gratiot Ave. on the city's northeast side.
A third victim, the woman's 22-year-old brother, was seriously injured but survived.
Tuesday afternoon, Williams was awaiting extradition to Michigan.
The other two accused in the case, 24-year-old Mariah Thomas and 28-year-old Jebrie Cross, have already been charged with arson and murder.
Wayne County Prosecutor described it as a revenge killing.
"The allegations in this case are becoming all too common," Worthy said in a statement out in the days following the crime. "Have we really come to the place where if someone rejects another person, the result is to seek revenge by burning a home with occupants in it?"
