3M Gets Grant To Improve 8 Mile Property
DETROIT (WWJ) - A Detroit company is getting some cash to help spruce up its property along 8 Mile Road.
3M Abrasives, located at the corner of 8 Mile and Groesbeck, has received a $5,000 grant to continue its fence replacement project.
WWJ Newsradio 950 spoke with 3M spokesperson Tamara Fensky.
"The grant has enabled 3M to put the black fence that you see across 8 Mile and up the security guard shack. And it will also enable us to continue toe fence around the whole perimeter of the building in stages," she said.
While the project is not an absolute necessity, as the existing chain link fence is still functional, Fensky said replacing it with the back wrought iron is, for the most part, about ascetics.
"It's certainly gonna add another level of security for the facility. But we take a lot of pride in being in Detroit and on 8 Mile and certainly wanted to do our part to support the beautification," Fensky said.
The Eight Mile Boulevard Association presented the grant as part of its 8MBA Facade Improvement Program. For more information, visit eightmile.org.
