JFK, The Peace Corps., and The University of Michigan
What a night tonight at the University of Michigan.
At 2am (Thursday) morning, hundreds of students will gather outside the Michigan Union to celebrate the exact moment 50 years ago , when John F. Kennedy gave a three minute impromptu speech to launch the Peace Corps.
72 year old Dr. Alan Guskin was a 22 year old student at the time, and was about 30 feet away from JFK.
He's attending the big celebration in Ann Arbor (along with his friend Tom Hayden, former editor of the Michigan Daily, member of the Chicago 7, and former husband of Jane Fonda)
