Count Day In Detroit
It's good news, bad news for Detroit Public Schools.
First the good news: Wednesday was Count Day, and Detroit's Emergency Financial Manager Robert Bobb was rather pleased with the outcome.
The unofficial count indicates DPS met it's budgeted student count of 77,314.
Bobb went on to say that enrollment is declining at a slower rate than in the past.
Now the bad news, the district has lost nearly 100,000 students since 1999 and is still facing a $363 million deficit.
