Rubbing You the Right Way!
If you go get a massage, what does that do for your blood and your mood?
A new study at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles wanted to know if a good rub down has only psychological benefits, or actual physical benefits that can be documented.
They hooked up people to intravenous catheters so blood samples could be taken immediately before the massage and one hour after.
The study found that a single, 45 minute massage caused significant biological changes.
Stress hormones went down, and hormones associated with contentment went up.
