3 Hurt After Car Crashes Through Home
KEEGO HARBOR (WWJ/AP) - Authorities say a car crashed through a house in metro Detroit, injuring the driver and two people inside the home.
Police say a 60-year-old man was driving at a high rate of speed Thursday afternoon in Keego Harbor when he lost control, hit a snow bank and smashed through the house. The vehicle came out the rear of the house before stopping when it hit a tree in the yard.
According to reports from the scene, the vehicle was airborne the entire distance through the home.
"Per the driver, the last thing he remembers was beginning his turn into his residence parking area. Then, according to him, he remembers the vehicle accelerating -- but nothing further until he came to a halt in the back yard of a residence," Keego Harbor Police Chief Kenneth Hurst said in an email to WWJ Newsradio 950.
The driver was taken to a hospital for treatment of minimal reported injuries. Two people in the home had what were described as minor injuries. A third person inside the home wasn't hurt.
Hurst said alcohol doesn't appear to be a factor in the crash, however medical and blood issues are being examined.
After the accident, the house was deemed condemned because the car removed internal supports of the house.
