3 Doctors Named In Indictment Connected With Almost $6M In Illegal Pills Hitting Streets
DETROIT (WWJ) - They are allegedly responsible for pushing one million prescription pills onto the streets of metro Detroit illegally.
Newsradio 950's Stephanie Davis reports the West Bloomfield doctor is the accused mastermind behind the scheme that made millions of dollars.
According to the indictment unsealed Wednesday Boris Zigmond, MD, a chiropractor, is allegedly behind the organization that distributed one million roxicodone or oxycodone pills generating around $5.7 million for a this group of seven people and two other doctors.
The indictment alleges that Zigmond, 50, of West Bloomfield did not see patients or write prescriptions but used named co-defendants as 'marketers' or patient recruiters who would pay money directly to Zigmond or his assistants, also named in the indictment; Jennifer Franklin, M.D., 39, of Harrison Township and Carlos Godoy, M.D., 78, of Farmington Hills.

The three doctors and seven other individuals were charged with conspiracy to illegally distribute prescription drugs, U.S. Attorney Barbara L. McQuade announced Wednesday.
The large-scale prescription trafficking allegedly took place between Jan. 2013 - May 2015.
