3 Arrested In Shelby Township K2 Busts
SHELBY TWP. (WWJ) - Police raided a Citgo service station along Van Dyke in Shelby Township after months of accusations that the store was selling the synthetic drug commonly called "K2" or "Spice."
Shelby Township Supervisor Rick Stathakis said police on Wednesday raided the gas station as well as three other locations. Police made three arrests and confiscated a large amount of K2 along with $20,000.
Stathakis said public outcry this past summer prompted the investigation."We had some 200 people protesting the sale of K-2 at the particular Citgo gas station, and at this particular ... Woodstock tobacco shop," he said.
Stathakis said he hopes this latest bust sends a clear message to others who are thinking of selling the synthetic drug.
"If anybody thinks that they're going to sell K2 ... or any kind of synthetic drug in Shelby Township and get away it, they're not going to. We're gonna get 'em," he said.
In July it became illegal to sell, buy or use K2.
