2nd Trial Underway In Matt Landry Murder
The trial now underway in Macomb County for a second Detroit teen accused in last year's carjacking, kidnapping and murder of Matthew Landry.
Prosecutors say 18-year-old Robert Taylor admitted to being a lookout while co-defendant Ihab Maslamani grabbed Landry, pushed him in his own car and drove it away.
Prosecutor William Cataldo told the jury they have a statement from a Macomb County jail inmate that while behind bars, Taylor admitted to his role in the killing.
"That's why he was so nervous -- vomiting and chain smoking...he knew [Taylor] was gonna die," Cataldo said.
In his opening arguments, defense attorney Louis Zaidan said Taylor had no role in the crime. Zaidan said there is no credible witness that can put Taylor with Maslamani.
Maslamani was convicted in October and sentenced to life without parole.
