$2,500 Reward Offered For Tips In Case Of Missing Macomb Township Teen
MACOMB TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - There's still no sign of a young Macomb Township man who's been missing for almost a month.
Crime Stoppers of Michigan is now offering a cash reward of up to $2,500 for the tip that leads to the whereabouts of 19-year-old Stephen Christopher McAfee, who was last seen leaving his home, on Walden Dr., on Thursday, March 10 at around 2:30 a.m.
Family and friends grew concerned, reporting him missing after attempts to get a hold of him on his cell phone were unsuccessful.
McAfee does not have a car or a driver's license, so he is likely on foot or traveling with someone else. It is believed that he did not have any money or a debit/credit card on him at the time of his disappearance — and he didn't pack any clothes.
Family members, who have been distributing fliers all around the metro Detroit area, are asking the public to keep an eye out.
"It is extremely unlike Steve to be gone from home for more than a couple of hours and not have direct contact with his family or any personal belongings on him," his cousin, Jessica Carlson, said in an email.
McAfee is described as white male, around 6 feet, 1 inch tall and 140 lbs. with brown hair and brown eyes. Although he was clean-shaven when last seen, he has been known to wear facial hair at times (see photos).
Carlson said, because McAfee attended an arts high school with kids from all over the Detroit area, he has friends in communities all over the area.
Anyone who may have seen McAfee or who has information about his whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP. Tips may also be submitted online at this link, or by texting CSM and the tip to CRIMES (2746370). Tips to Crime Stoppers and cash rewards are always anonymous.
Alternatively, tipsters can call the Macomb County Sheriff's Office at 586-307-9412.
