Angry Mother Begs Detroiters To Ignore Street 'Anti-Snitch' Policy After Son's Unsolved Murder
DETROIT (WWJ) - A Detroit mother, grieving over the yet unsolved murder of her son, says she's fed up with people not speaking up about crime.
Antwine Robinson was 32 years old when he was gunned down at his home in the 14000-block of Liberal Street near east 7 Mile and Gratiot on the night of Nov. 15, 2008.
Robinson, a married Wayne County Community College student with two children, was found by his wife in — shot both in the head and chest.
There have been no arrests in the case.
The victim's mother, Evonne Robinson, believes that someone out there has information about her son's death.
"Everyone is not asleep; someone sees something." Robinson said.
Robinson, who spoke to reporters at a Crime Stoppers news conference on Wednesday, said she's tired of the no-snitch mindset pervasive in the community.
"If me and you do something together and I go back and I tell on you, that's called a snitch," said Robinson. "But if you see somebody getting hurt or killed, that's not being a snitch — that's helping someone."
"If we tell what we see and what we heard, maybe there wouldn't be so many murders committed," she added. "[There are] so many murders being committed and nobody's coming up and saying anything. Look how many people we are losing!"
