$2,500 Reward For Tips After Man Fatally Shot In Car In Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) - Crime Stoppers is offering a $2,500 reward for tips after a man was murdered last weekend in Detroit.

Edward Morris, 26, died at around 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22, on the city's northeast side.

According to police, Morris was sitting in his gray 2016 Nissan Altima, in the 20000 block of Wexford near Winchester Ave. and Ryan Rd., when he was fatally shot during an attempted robbery.

No arrests have been made and Crime Stoppers is hoping that someone in the community knows something that could help investigators solve this case.

"We cannot bring a murdered family member home. But we can bring justice to a community and closure to the family," the organization said, in a news release. "We can galvanize our community to create safe neighborhoods where children can play outside and walk to school without fear, where neighbors talk with each other instead of closing their doors and hiding inside -- and where a community, together, can rise up and speak up to put an end to violence."

Crime Stoppers wants to remind the public that all tips are completely anonymous. No one, including the police, will know who you are and you will not be asked to testify in court. "We are obsessive about anonymity," Crime Stoppers says. Calls are never recorded and callers are never asked for their name, phone  number or any kind of identifying information.

Cash rewards are also paid anonymously, upon an arrest and conviction in a case.

Anyone who may have witnessed this crime or who has any information about this case is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP. Tips may also be submitted online at this link, or by texting CSM and the tip to CRIMES (2746370).
