Bruce Township Motorcyclist Dies In Crash
Macomb County Sheriff detectives are investigating a fatal motorcycle-car accident that occurred in Bruce Township Monday morning.
Macomb County Sheriff Mark A. Hackel reports that a 1997 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling southbound on M-53 when he attempted to pass a 1997 Saab. The motorcycle hit the left rear end of the Saab, officials said.
Martin Gene Waikel, 45, of Bruce Township, lost control of his motorcycle and fell off, Macomb County Sheriff's Office reported.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. It is unknown at this time if alcohol may have played a role in the crash and no one was injured in the car, officials said.
This is the third motorcycle death in Bruce Township this year. Two victims died in a March 18th crash on Fisher Road north of 32 Mile Road.
And a 68-year-old female died May 28, when her motorcycle left the road and crashed on 32 Mile Road west of Mound Road.
Macomb County Sheriff's Office will be continuing the investigation.
