20-Year-Old Killed On I-94 After Exiting Vehicle
VAN BUREN TWP. (WWJ) - Police say a 20-year-old Bloomfield Hills man was killed in a crash on I-94 in western Wayne County.
The accident happened around 10:30 p.m. Monday on eastbound I-94 between Rawsonville and Belleville roads in Van Buren Township.
A witness told Michigan State Police they were passing through the area when they noticed a 2012 Acura parked alongside the freeway. The witness told police they watched as a man exited the parked car and crossed I-94 into oncoming traffic on foot.
According to police, a semi-tractor traveling eastbound attempted to avoid striking the man, but was unable to.
The man, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say they are continuing to investigate the incident.
