2 Wounded, 1 Dead After Shooting At Detroit Coney Island
DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - Police say two men are wounded and an attempted armed robbery suspect is dead following an exchange of gunfire at a Coney Island restaurant in Detroit.
The shooting happened just after 10 p.m. Wednesday at Adi's Coney Island on Michigan Avenue on the city's southwest side. Police say two armed men entered the restaurant and announced a robbery.
According to police, a 51-year-old customer at the restaurant opened fire, killing a 29-year-old suspect. That suspect also fired shots before being killed, wounding the customer who shot him plus another 46-year-old man at the restaurant, police said.
The wounded men were treated at and released from a local hospital.
Investigators say the customer was legally armed since he had a concealed pistol license.
Police are now searching for the second suspect, who fled the scene during the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
