2 Women Charged In Connection With Series Of Larcenies In Oakland County

CLARKSTON (WWJ) - The Oakland County Sheriff's Office has arrested of two females suspects involved in a rash of larcenies at local businesses in Independence Township in recent weeks.

Twenty-nine-year-old Ashley Sandstrom of Lapeer and 42-year-old Velretta Leak of Pontiac entered several stores in Clarkston - stealing wallets from employees in mid-January.

On Monday, both Sandstorm and Leak were taken into custody by the Lapeer County Sheriff's Department after employees at a carpet store told authorities there were two women acting suspicious.

Sandstrom and Leak were arraigned Thursday in District Court and were charged with two counts of larceny in a building, which carries a sentence of up to 4 years in prison per count.

Sandstrom is being held on $25,000 bond, while Leak received a $50,000 bond.
