2 Teens In Custody In Oakland County Home Invasion, Robbery
PONTIAC (WWJ) - Two teens are behind bars accused in an Oakland County home invasion over the weekend.
Sheriff's officials say the pair of 17-year-olds were caught red-handed by a Commerce Township man early Sunday morning, in the 8000-block of Hummingbird Dr.
The 20-year-old resident told deputies he walked into his garage to find two unknown men — one sitting in his car and the other allegedly trying to steal a bicycle.
The homeowner chased the suspects but lost track of them in the dark. Authorities say he then returned to the garage to take inventory, discovering that his motorcycle and several other items were missing.
Responding to a 911 call at around 1 a.m., a sheriff's office K-9 unit tracked the suspects to a home in the 8000 block of Wise Rd. in Commerce. There they found the alleged thieves, along with the motorcycle and other stolen items.
Both suspects, one a Commerce resident and the other from Livonia, were arrested and taken to the Oakland County Jail where they remain pending formal criminal charges.
One of them, according to the sheriff's office, had a prior arrest early this year on a charge of larceny from a vehicle.
The suspects' names were not immediately released.
