2 Metro Detroiters Killed In Crash Up North
RAPID RIVER TWP., Mich. (WWJ/AP) - Authorities say two people from Livonia were killed when their car ran a stop sign and collided with a semi-truck in Michigan's northwestern Lower Peninsula.
The crash happened just after 10 a.m. Monday at an intersection along U.S. Highway 131 in Kalkaska County's Rapid River Township. The sheriff's department says the semi driver lost control after the crash and collided with a minivan.
The 20-year-old man who was driving the car and a 47-year-old female passengers died in the crash, The Traverse City Record-Eagle reported. A second passenger, a 19-year-old Livonia man, was critically injured in the crash.
Police say the 59-year-old driver of the minivan and his 62-year-old passenger were also injured in the crash and taken to the hospital in stable condition. The 48-year-old semi driver suffered minor injuries in the crash.
Names of those involved weren't immediately released.
