2 In Custody In Horrific Attack On Pregnant Woman
WARREN (WWJ/AP) - Two men are now in custody in connection with the attempted murder of a 22-year-old pregnant woman in Warren.
Investigators say one of them is the unborn child's father, whom the victim had just dropped off at his house in Warren. Police said the woman was then abducted, bound with tape and taken to Detroit where she was doused with lighter fluid and set on fire before being shot in the back.
The woman, who is 9 months pregnant, put out the fire by rolling on the ground. She was then able to free herself to call for help.
A second man linked to the crime was arrested Sunday, both facing attempted murder charges.
The woman remained hospitalized on Monday in serious, but stable condition. Police say her unborn baby appears healthy.
No names have been released.
Anyone with information about the attack is asked to call Warren Police at 586-574-4700.
