2 Hospitalized After Sterling Hgts Crash

Two people were sent to the hospital after a serious accident in Sterling Heights Tuesday morning. The accident occurred at the intersection on Dodge Park and Metro Parkway, which involved a navy blue Jeep Liberty and a white Pontiac mini-van. Sterling Heights Police Lieutenant Luke Riley said in a statement that the white mini-van was driving southbound on Dodge Park on a green light, while the Jeep was going westbound on Metropark Way.

"According to witnesses, the Jeep entered the intersection on a red light and struck the mini-van," said Lt. Riley.

Lt. Riley said the mini-van driver is a 40 year-old man from Warren who was sent to Henry Ford Macomb in critical condition.

A 38 year-old Sterling Heights woman was driving the Jeep and is not as badly injured as the other driver, according to Lt. Riley.

"The driver of the Jeep was transported to St. John's Macomb in probably serious conditions," said Lt. Riley.

Police have the identities of the drivers but are not yet ready to release those names.

The road was closed for more than two hours while investigators were taking measurements and crews were clearing the wreckage.
