2 Girls Go Missing From Detention Center; Mothers Fear Teens Are With Men They Met Online
WATERFORD (WWJ) - The mothers of two teenaged girls are pleading for help in locating their daughters, who walked away from a juvenile detention center in Oakland County on Monday.
Danyell Spann said she placed her 15-year-old daughter Ajashnea Williams in Children's Village in Waterford after her behavior became unmanageable. Tonia Hishke said she had similar problems with her 16-year-old daughter, Desiree Smith.
"Desiree was also placed in Children's Village by me for being incorrigible. She's had a lot of tragedy in her life and, as this mother, I was hoping that she could get the help and counseling that she needed from Children's Village," said Hishke.
On July 20, the two girls apparently walked away from the center and haven't been seen or heard from since. Investigators believe the two girls are together but other than that, they're not sure where the teens could be. The mothers fear the girls could be with older men they've contacted online.
"You don't know. And with the technology that's going on with the social media with the kids these days, they could go and be with anyone," said Spann. "So I am pleading, if you have a child of your own, just understand the pain that I'm feeling daily not knowing where my daughter is."
Hishke said she's desperate to locate her daughter.
"We're pleading for your help to bring these girls home. Desiree is on medication for a health condition that she needs to take, it could affect her health severely in the long run if she does not have this medication," she said.
