2 Freeway Closures This Weekend
DETROIT (WWJ) - Spring has arrived in Metro Detroit -- and with it, the orange barrels. There are two complete freeway closures scheduled for this weekend.
M-39/the Southfield Freeway will be closed from Ford Road to I-96, so that crews can safely demolish the Joy Road overpass. (More on this).
Also, both eastbound and westbound I-94 will be shut down at the I-696 interchange. Both closures are expected to start at about 9 p.m. Friday. The freeways will reopened late Sunday night or early Monday morning.
WWJ's John Bailey says motorists should also plan for stop and go traffic west of there in Romulus. Crews plan to shut down two lanes on westbound I-94 at the I-275 interchange, Friday morning until Monday morning.
