2 Charged In Assault, Carjacking At Farmington Hills Apartments
FARMINGTON HILLS (WWJ) -- Two suspects in a Farmington Hills carjacking and home invasion case were arraigned on Friday.
Joshua Miller, 18, and Jasmine McReynolds, 20, were brought up on multiple charges, including assault with intent to murder, armed robbery and carjacking.
Miller and McReynolds allegedly got into the Fairmont Park Apartments Homes building, near 9 Mile and Drake roads, at around 11 p.m. Wednesday.
The pair was waiting inside when the 40-year-old victim returned home, where they allegedly beat her in the head, Police Chief Chuck Nebus said, then dragged her out to her car.
The victim was able to escape by rolling out of the door of the moving vehicle. The suspects got away in the woman's 2010 white Honda Crosstour, which was recovered Thursday afternoon.
According to police, a citizen — who had seen the story in the media — alerted authorities when he or she spotted the vehicle near Drake and 11 Mile roads in Farmington Hills.
The vehicle was stopped by Farmington Hills officers and the two occupants were into custody after a short foot chase on Thursday.
The victim was hospitalized, recovering from injuries sustained during the ordeal — but's expected to be OK.
Bond was set at $500,000 cash/surety (no 10%). The next court appearance for Miller and McReynolds is scheduled for February 2.
