2-Car Accident Injures 4, Including L. Brooks Patterson
AUBURN HILLS (WWJ) - L. Brooks Patterson and three other people are reportedly hospitalized after a two-car crash in Auburn Hills Friday afternoon.
Patterson, the Oakland County Executive, was a front seat passenger in one of the cars, a Chrysler 300.
Both cars were occupied with a driver and passenger. All four people were transported to local hospitals with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. Patterson was transported to McLaren Hospital in Pontiac.
Tressa Gardner is with the hospital's emergency medical department, she tells WWJ that Patterson came in with a gash to his head.
"He had an injury to his scalp that has been repaired and as I spoke of earlier he had a couple orthopedic injuries." said Gardner.
Gardner said that Patterson was undergoing surgery for those broken bones.
Patterson's driver, a retired Michigan State Police Trooper, is also in serious condition and is being treated.
A preliminary investigation reveals that the two vehicles were involved in the crash near Walton and Opdyke Roads.
Police report that the Chrylser 300 was traveling eastbound on Walton Blvd. when it entered the intersection of Opdyke Road and it collided with a Volkswagen Passat which was turning left in front of the Chrysler.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
