2 Boys Facing Charges As Adults In Slaying Of 16-Year-Old

WYOMING, Mich. (WWJ/AP) — Two boys arrested in connection with the death of a 16-year-old whose body was found in a Grand Rapids-area park are being charged as an adult.

Police say Michael White's body was found March 19 in Lions Park in Wyoming. Just a few days later, 15-year-old boys from Wyoming and nearby Kentwood were arrested.

The boy from Wyoming was arraigned Friday. He and the Kentwood boy are facing open murder charges as adults. The boys aren't being named due to their age.

Police haven't yet disclosed a motive for the killing, but investigators say the Kentwood boy told them he stabbed and beat White.

The Wyoming boy was seen with White the night of March 18, when he was killed, and provided the weapon used in the murder, The Grand Rapids Press reported.

An official cause of death has not yet been released, but reports say White suffered trauma to the head.

Both teens remain held without bond.
