2 Arrested For GPS Thefts
A pair of thieves lifting navigation systems from cars around Macomb County are going nowhere fast.
The Macomb County Auto Theft Unit got a break when two young men tried to take a GPS unit from a car parked at Macomb Regional Hospital.
Sheriff's officials say the vehicle's owner confronted the robbers when she saw them inside her car. One of the suspects at the wheel of a getaway car rammed her vehicle trying to leave.
By that time, Sheriff's deputies collared one suspect still at the scene, while the other making a run for it was tracked down a short distance later.
A Sheriff's K-9 located the stolen navigation system that was dropped by one of the suspects.
In custody are 19-year old Montez Tyrone Gantz and 21-year old James William Ruffin, both of Detroit.
A third suspect was also expected to be brought in.
