2 Arrested After Police Find Several Illegal Weapons
DETROIT (WWJ) - Two men were arrested and face felony weapons charges after police found several guns illegally in their possession.
Police say they received a 9-1-1 call around 6:30 p.m. of Tuesday reporting a "persons with weapons" a home located in the 17500 block of Stoepel.
Officers responded and gained entry into the dwelling, where they found and confiscated the five illegal weapons, including a 12 gauge street sweep shotgun with live rounds, AK-47 with live rounds in the magazine, 22 caliber rifle, Glock 40 caliber with live rounds, and a Smith & Wesson 500 Magnum with live rounds.
Police also found a small quantity of suspected marijuana and over $600 in U.S. currency. Police say 29-year-old Anthony Ward and 30-year-old James Davis were arrested at the scene without incident.
Davis was arraigned on an outstanding felony warrant and Ward was arraigned on felony charges for Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Felony Firearm, Firearm in Possession and Violation of Controlled Substance Act.
"This was just a great example of teamwork, stated Chief of Police Ralph L. Godbee, Jr. "Thanks to a citizen who called in this information, Detroit Police has taken illegal guns off the streets of Detroit, and two felons are now facing justice."
