19-Year-Old Man Who Tried To Flee Police In Stolen Car Jailed On Multiple Charges
MONROE (WWJ) - Authorities say a 19-year-old man who tried to flee from police in a stolen vehicle is now facing multiple criminal charges.
The Monroe County Sheriff's Office says Phillip Price was arraigned this week in 1st District Court on charges of possession of stolen property, fleeing and eluding police, resisting arrest, and various drug offenses.
The charges stem from an incident that occurred Tuesday at an apartment complex in Monroe Township. According to police, Price was observed driving a car that had been reported stolen two days prior.
A Sheriff's deputy from the newly formed Monroe Vice Team responded to the area and ordered Price from the vehicle, but police say he ignored orders and sped away, initiating a chase.
Additional deputies were called to assist and join the pursuit. Eventually, the deputies were able to corner Price and prevent him from fleeing further. He was then placed under arrest without further incident.
Price remains lodged at the Monroe County Jail.
This case remains under investigation. Anyone with additional information is urged to contact police at 734-240-7700.
