18-Year-Old Detroit Man Faces Trial In 2 Rapes
DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - A Detroit judge has ordered an 18-year-old man to stand trial on charges he raped two women who had been walking alone on city streets.
The victims testified Tuesday that Job Hughley earlier this month pulled a gun, directed them to desolate areas and sexually assaulted them. Both women are in their 20s.
Hughley faces a laundry list of charges including assault with intent to murder, kidnapping, felony firearm and first degree criminal sexual conduct. He faces life in prison if convicted on the sex charge.
Hughley also is accused of attacking a 37-year-old woman who was pushing her 6-month-old daughter in a stroller.
Police said he forced the mother behind a vacant home, made her strip and tried to rape her. She somehow broke free and police said he shot her in the back when she tried to run. A preliminary examination in that case was adjourned until late next month because the victim is unable to testify due to her injuries.
The woman was last reported hospitalized in critical condition. Her baby is staying with relatives.
