17-Year-Old Charged In Break-In At Macomb County Treasurer's Office
MOUNT CLEMENS (WWJ) - Authorities say a teenager is responsible for breaking into the Macomb County Administration Building earlier this month and now, he's facing multiple criminal charges.
Seventeen-year-old Jordan Issac Anderson, of Mount Clemens, was arraigned Thursday via video on one count of breaking and entering with intent, a 10-year felony, and three counts of larceny in a building. Bond was set at $10,000.
Police say on June 3, county employees reported to work to find that personal items had been stolen from offices in the Macomb County Treasurer's Office. Among the items stolen were electronics, a knife and loose change.
A review of security cameras showed that at 3:16 a.m., a lone male subject -- who police identified as Anderson -- appeared in the Cashier's Office. The man can be seen crawling through a small window opening, entering the office and rifling through desk drawers. He was also seen tampering with a cash register, which he took as well, according to police.
At the time of the incident, the suspect was wearing distinctive-looking clothing, which police say helped lead to his identification. A search warrant was prepared and executed at a home on Barbara Street in Mt. Clemens, where detectives recovered evidence that tied Anderson to the crime, according to police.
Anderson remains in the Macomb County Jail. He's due back in court on June 22.
