15-Year-Old Dead After 'Gang Related' Shooting In Detroit
DETROIT (WWJ) - A 15-year-old is dead after being shot in the chest on Detroit's southwest side, and police believe it could be gang related.
Police say the shooting happened after some type of dispute around 4:40 a.m. Saturday, as the teenager sat on the porch of his home on Toledo Street, near Lansing Street.
Homicide Detectives say the young victim was rushed to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Police say an 18-year-old male was also shot during the incident and was taken to the hospital. He is expected to recover.
Police believe the shootings were gang related, but the 15-year-old victim's aunt, Bonnie, told WWJ's Beth Fisher she doesn't believe her nephew was involved in that.
Detroit Police say there were multiple witnesses in the area, and are hoping someone who knows something comes forward.
Anyone with information is asked to call Homicide Detectives at 313-596-2260 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
