14-Year-Old Takes Plea Deal In Mom's Murder
DETROIT (WWJ) - A Detroit teen accused of killing his mother last February has pleaded guilty to second degree murder.
Under a plea bargain announced Monday morning by the Wayne County Prosecutor's office, 14-year-old Joshua Smith will be sentenced to 25 to 50 years in prison.
Investigators said Tamiko Robinson was shot to death while she was asleep at home following an argument on Feb. 27. Police said the teen told them he was tired of being called names. He was a charged as an adult in the case.
The shotgun used belonged to the boy's stepfather.
Sentencing is scheduled before 36th District Court Judge Bruce Morrow on October 26.
