13-Year-Old Sentenced In Robbery, Murder
A 13-year-old Detroiter has received a blended sentence in the murder of a Davison woman last year.
DeMarco Harris, who was 12 at the time of the robbery and murder of 24-year-old Trisha Babcock on West Outer Drive, will initially be placed in a juvenile facility and then be up for review in six months.
When he's 21, if the court decides that his adjustment is not satisfactory, he can be sentenced as an adult to life in prison without parole.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy says there are no happy endings in a case like this and her heart goes out to the family of the victim.
Worthy says this is a stark reminder of why we must all be committed to reducing juvenile violence in our communities.
