13-Year-Old Boy Charged In Double Murder

FLINT (WWJ/AP) - A 13-year-old Flint boy has been charged with murder in the shooting deaths of his 22-year-old brother and his brother's 28-year-old girlfriend.

Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton told MLive.com that the boy is being held at the Genesee Valley Detention Center and will be tried as an adult in juvenile court.

Leyton said the boy is one of the youngest, if not the youngest, he has charged with murder in his more than eight years as prosecutor. If convicted, the boy could serve an adult prison sentence after turning 21 should a judge decide he should remain behind bars.

Police said the shooting happened just after 4:30 a.m. Sunday at a house on Brandon St. near Knight Ave. on Flint's west side. They said Kareem B. Walters was pronounced dead at the scene and Alexis Frazier died at a local hospital a short time later.

Mid-Michigan TV station WNEM reported these death represent the city's 28th and 29th homicides this year.

Anyone with information about this crime is urged to contact the Flint Police Department at 810-237-6800 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
