7 Hurt In Greyhound-Semi Crash In West Mich.
GALESBURG, Mich. (WWJ/AP) - Authorities say a Chicago-bound Greyhound bus hit the back of a semi-truck in southwestern Michigan, leaving 7 people with what were described as minor injuries.
The crash happened Thursday morning along I-94 east of Kalamazoo, near Galesburg.
Lieutenant James VanDyken of the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's office said the injured included 6 passengers, along with the bus driver — who was trapped inside the vehicle for some time.
"We were assisted by the city of Kalamazoo and their public transportation," said VanDyken. "They were able to scramble a coupe of city buses out to us right away, and get the people who were not injured out of the corridor of the freeway right away; get them back down to Kalamazoo where another bus could come pick them up."
Passengers were taken to a downtown Kalamazoo transportation center where they boarded another bus that would take them to Chicago.
Authorities said the Greybound bus was traveling from Toronto. The crash occurred about 120 miles west of Detroit.
