104,000 Consumers Energy Customers Without Power

GRAND RAPIDS (WWJ) - Approximately 104,000 Consumers Energy electric customers are without service due to the thunderstorm activity that swept across the state on Sunday.

The approximate numbers of Consumers Energy electric customers remaining without service in the following counties are as follows:

  • Allegan (325)
  • Barry (250)
  • Branch (7,900)
  • Calhoun (34,000)
  • Clinton (830)
  • Eaton (2,300)
  • Genesee (2,600)
  • Gratiot (240)
  • Hillsdale (180)
  • Ingham (17,400)
  • Jackson (5,100)
  • Kalamazoo (3,150)
  • Kent (70)
  • Lenawee (4,700)
  • Livingston (4,100)
  • Monroe (8,000)
  • Muskegon (300)
  • Oakland (370)
  • Saginaw (50)
  • Shiawassee (1,900)
  • St. Joseph (8,800)
  • Washtenaw (800)

Utility, line clearing and contract crews will continue to restore power.  Consumers Energy says that estimates for restoration of electric service will be available once assessment of the damaged areas is completed.

Consumers Energy cautions area residents to avoid touching any downed wires and to report them immediately by calling 1-800-477-5050, or your local police.

Customers who call Consumers Energy to report no power are encouraged to use the utility's automated reporting option, available at 1-800-477-5050.

The service provides restoration information for each substation and circuit, and can be used to report an outage.
